February 2008
February 2, 2008
We had a heavy wet snow overnight. Niagara On The Lake picked up about 2-3 additional inches. The trees are coated with a thick blanket of snow. It looks like shaving cream exploded all over the city. My favorite kind of snow. Temperatures this morning have fallen into the 20s. It isn't all that cold outside. Beautiful morning.
Here are some photographs that I took this morning around Niagara On The Lake and Southern Ontario.

It looks like a warm week on tap for portions of the Eastern United States and into Ontario. A deep storm system is forecast to develop over the Ohio Valley on Monday and Tuesday. This will likely bring a severe weather outbreak to the United States. Snow and ice (rain even) will likely spread into this region in the coming days.
I will be heading to Quebec City, Quebec later this week. We will be staying at the Ice Hotel. This should be an interesting experience.

I arrived in Quebec City, Quebec for the Winter Carnival. This is the first year that I have participated in the carnival. Hopefully it won't be my last. Although I was hoping for some brutally cold temperatures, I am experiencing lows in the teens and highs in the twenties. Not bad - especially for Quebec. I will be staying at the Ice Hotel in the coming days. Looking forward to that experience!
I took this photograph near the hotel. The snowpack here in Quebec
City is fairly
impressive. The locals are saying that they have had unusually high
amounts of
snow during the past few months. Sounds like a GREAT winter to me!

staying while at the Winter Carnival (other than the ice hotel).
